Hello, I’m Hannah!

I’m so glad you’re here...

A daughter, a sister, an auntie, a spouse, and a friend, I come from European and Haudenosaunee (Six Nations of the Grand River, Mohawk) ancestors. I grew up in Southern Ontario as the youngest of five children in a blended family, spent most of my time exploring nature, and was usually surrounded by dogs. I feel like the saying “it takes a village” very much applies to my upbringing, and for that I feel so grateful for the large network of support that was there.

Holding a solid educational foundation in psychology and biology after graduating from an Honours Bachelor of Science, my initial experience in the world of scientific research around government funding and policy analysis helped me gain valuable insights into the intricacies of what it means to be human in our world.

After realizing I wanted to support people in a more direct way, I found myself working at a crisis centre, where I witnessed firsthand the power of empathy and active listening in healing deep-seated traumas. Reflecting on these initial experiences, and on my own struggles over the years with disordered eating, grief, depression, anxiety, and a late diagnosis of ADHD, I finally decided to pursue a career psychotherapy. My Masters in Counselling Psychology then paved the way for my profound commitment to therapeutic work.

Somewhere along the way I found myself driving across the country and moving to BC with my dog, ready to start a new chapter in my life that involved many hikes and adventures, and exploring the beauty that the Pacific coast offers around every corner, nook, and cranny.

More than anything, I love to laugh, cry, and create a safe space for the full spectrum of emotions to be expressed.

For everyone I meet —
all feelings are always welcome!

EDUCATION

Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Biology

UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA

Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology

YORKVILLE UNIVERSITY

I take a blended approach to counselling, inspired by many different theories, research, and methods. Ultimately I believe in an integrated approach, knowing that there is no one true way to approach psychotherapy and understanding the human experience. A lot of theories can say the same thing, using different language or focus areas.
